Southport Olympic Swimming Club has a proud history of producing world class athletes. The honour roll of athletes includes swimmers from the past and present, who have swum internationally while training as a member of the Southport Olympic Swimming Club.

Senior International Representative Swimmers

Christopher Wright

London 2012 Olympian and two-time Commonwealth Games representative.

Chris has also represented Australia at the 2010/2014 Pan Pacs, 2009/2013 World Championships and the 2008/2010 World Short Course.

Melanie Wright

A World Champion, World Record Holder, dual Olympian and five-time Olympic medallist including two gold.

Melanie has also represented Australia at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2006/2014 Pan Pacs and the 2007/2015 World Championships.

Leiston Pickett

Two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist in the 50m breaststroke. London 2012 Olympian.

Brenton Rickard

2x Olympic Silver Medallist, 2x World Champion, Former World Record Holder and Commonwealth Champion. Brenton represented Australia at two Olympic Games.

Cameron McEvoy

Qualified for the London 2012 Olympics as a 17 year old while training under Glenn at the Southport Olympic swimming club.

Alice Tait

Olympic, World, Commonwealth and Pan Pacific Champion in the 4×100 freestyle relay. Former world record holder.

Andrew Lauterstein

Andrew represented Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he won a Bronze medal in the 100 butterfly. He also won a World Championship Gold medal in 2007 in the 4×100 medley relay.

Sam Ashby

Sam represented Australia at the 2011 World Championships, swimming int he 100m butterfly and medley relay.

Nick Ffrost

An Olympic bronze medallist in the 4×200 freestyle relay at the Beijing Games in 2008. Nick also won medals at the Commonwealth and World Championships.

Ashleigh McCleery

Ashleigh represented Australia at the 2006 Pan Pacific Championships

Ashley Callus

Made a return to swimming in 2009 qualifying for the 2010 Commonwealth Games and setting a new Australian record in the 50m Freestyle. In his early days, Ashley was a member of the ‘guitar smashing’ 4×100 freestyle relay team at the Sydney 200 Olympic Games.

Andy McMillan

Andy represented New Zealand at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
